Redskins Cut Shaun Alexander

The Washington Redskins have released running back Shaun Alexander after four games with the team.  The 31 year old former MVP had provided insurance while injuries prevented Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts from playing.

Lenny Settles Suit

Former major league outfielder Lenny Dykstra has hammered out a deal with an accounting firm that claimed he owed it more than $100,000.
Dykstra and DDK & Co. sealed the deal in Manhattan federal court on Monday. Terms were not disclosed.

Knuble Leads Flyers to 5th Straight Win

Mike Knuble scored two goals, including the tiebreaker at 14:52 of the third period, and the Flyers beat the Dallas Stars 4-3 on Monday night en route to their fifth straight victory.

Larry Brown and the Bobcats Beat the Sixers

Charlotte Bobcat guards DJ Augustin and Raymond Felton combined for 48 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds in their third game starting together, and the Bobcats beat the Sixers 93-84 Monday to snap a four-game losing streak.

Sixers Above .500 For the First Time this Season

Big Elton Brand had 23 points and 12 boards and Andre Iguodala added 15 points and the Philadelphia 76ers moved above .500 for the first time this season.  The 89-81 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday was the Sixers second in a row.

Celts Roll Over Raptors

Ray Allen scored 21 points and Boston led from the start in winning its fifth straight game, 118-103 over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Rondo, Kevin Garnett and Tony Allen each scored 15 points for the Celtics.  Kendrick Perkins had 12 points and Paul Pierce and Eddie House each had 11 in the win.
