RIP Ms. Manuel

Phils Skipper Charlie Manuel’s mother, June Manuel, has passed away, the team announced this afternoon.  Manuel’s pregame press conference Friday was canceled.

Here is what Manuel told MLB.com about his mom on Mother’s Day, 2005:

I can’t imagine a better person in the world than my mother.  I hope everybody’s mom is like mine. She’s been very special to me, and I’ve been very lucky to have a mother like her.

Word in the dugout is that it is unclear as to whether or not he will manage tonights ballgame.  Come on Phils, win one for the Gippers Ma!
