Romero Suspended 50 Games

The Phils 33-year-old left hander who won the third and clinching games of the 2008 World Series has been ruled guilty of negligence and will be suspended for the first 50 games of the 2009 season.  JC said Monday that he bought a supplement from a GNC store in Cherry Hill, N.J., in July. The MLBPA had told players the supplement was acceptable, but now the Philadelphia Phillies left-hander will receive a suspension and lose $1.25 million.

Explain that to me Mr. Bud?  This is like the third time this has happened across major sports in the last 6 months.  Whats the deal with this?  Obviously its a specific ingredient in this supplements that these dudes are buying, but somebody give these guys a list for christ sakes.

They are not going to make an example of me thinking that I’m just a [dumb] Puerto Rican. It’s not going to happen. It’s not the way I’m built. For me to keep my mouth shut? That’s not the right thing to do. If they want to bump me out of the game, so be it. What am I going to do, just sit back and take it? When I know in my heart I’m innocent? That doesn’t fly well with me and it doesn’t fly well in my house, either.
