NFC East Wrap Up

NYG 21   PIT 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers, stretched thin by injuries and their own mistakes, repeatedly kept the New York Giants out of their end zone. A game the Steelers were controlling turned dramatically when they couldn’t stay out of that end zone themselves.

Eli Manning threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Boss with 3:11 remaining for the Giants’ only touchdown after they tied it several minutes before on a bizarre safety.  The defending champs are now 6-1 and atop the NFC East.

WASH 25   DET 17

Santana Moss scored twice, including a punt return for 80 yards early in the fourth quarter, scoring what proved to be Washington’s game winning touchdown in a 25-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Redskins are now at 6-2 for the first time since 2000 with the win.

TB 9   DAL 13

In a slow day of offense in Big D the Dallas Cowboys edged out Jeff Garcia and the Bucs to take a 13-9 victory.  Brad Johnson went 19-for-33 for 122 yards with 1 TD and no interceptions filling in for Tony Romo.  Terrell Owens had five catches for 33 yards. He has only 11 catches and 100 receiving yards in his past three games. The Cowboys move to 5-3 with the win.

Redskins Sign Shaun Alexander

The ‘Skins signed Shaun Alexander to a one-year deal on Tuesday to fill in for Ladell Betts as he recovers from a knee injury. Betts is expected to miss around three weeks with the injury.  Alexander will back up starting RB Clinton Portis during Betts’ recovery.

Alexander was released by the Seahawks in the offseason and could not seem to latch onto an NFL team at all.  He had visited the Saints, Bengals and Lions before finally landing a job in Washington. This however bodes well for Alexander, as he worked with Redskins head coach Jim Zorn and running backs coach Stump Mitchell in Seattle.

Expect nothing great out of this washed up old vet.

Rudi Gets Riddled

Had this passed along today from a friend on an email today and had to post.   Just a man trying to bring another man down.  I bet Tatum Bell is feeling pretty salty after this ordeal.  Doesn’t he know that somebody is always watching him.  Ahh hilarious.

A strange thing happened to running back Rudi Johnson when he visited with the Detroit Lions on Monday.

Someone stole his stuff.

Seriously.

Specifically, and as we¹re told by a reliable source, Johnson left his bags
outside CEO Matt Millen¹s office while he met with team officials and,
ultimately, worked out a deal with the team.

So when Johnson came back to get his bags, they were nowhere to be found.
Johnson and Millen were stumped.

Enter the eye in the sky.

The team checked the videotapes generated by the team¹s in-housesurveillance system, and they quickly identified the culprit.

So who might it have been?  None other than Tatum Bell, who lost his gig
with the Lions after Rudi arrived.

Per the source, Bell took the bags to the house of a female acquaintance.
When confronted on the matter, Bell offered up some cockamamie story that he
thought the bags belonged to someone he knew.  The girl, however, said thatshe hadn¹t seen Bell in several months and he showed up out of the blue and
asked her to keep the bags for a while.

Johnson has retrieved the bags, and it¹s our understanding that charges
won¹t be pressed.

Tatum apparently didn¹t know that he was being monitored.
