Sixers Lose 4th Straight

So the game on Wednesday night was pretty sicko sitting in my girlfriends luxury box and it was one hell of a game.  Dwight Howard did not dissappoint as he is a manchild and Elton had flashes of excellence as well.  Too bad Rashard Lewis had to bang that 3 ball from the corner in the final few seconds to give Orlando the victory.

And on to Sunday’s loss.

Ben Gordon scored 21 points, Drew Gooden had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and the Chicago Bulls rallied from an early deficit for a 103-92 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Bulls number one pick Derrick Rose contributed 18 points and 10 assists and reached double figures in assists for the first time in his young career. Former Sixer Larry Hughes had 16 points for the Bulls (8-9), who won for only the third time in 10 games on the road.

Elton Brand had 21 points and 12 boards, and Thaddeus Young added 17 points for the Sixers, who have lost four straight to fall to 7-10. Andre Miller had 15 points and 10 assists, and Willie Green chipped in with 12 .

Bulls 76ers Basketball

Philadelphia scored a season low 78 points in a 24 point loss at Boston on Friday and has been held below the 100-point mark in seven straight games.  Next up for the Sixers are the Chicago Bulls again tomorrow night from Chicago.

I will be in attendance in a lovely luxury box thanks to my wonderful girlfriend and her father as the Sixers look to move above .500 again this season.  Should be a great game between two of the best bigs in the East in Elton and Dwight.  Pretty excited to see Dwight in person as it will be my first time ever, not to mention Elton as I have yet to make it down to a game this season.  Hopefully this will be the first of many.

Enjoy the game, I know I sure will and everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the food, football and beers.  I will be back and ready to post come Monday morn barring an unforeseen sports happenings that I need to rant about.

LET’S GO EAGLES for fucks sake! Arizona Cardinals at the Birds, tomorrow at 8:15 pm on NFL Network.

Team USA Manhandles the Aussies

From the early going you could tell Team USA was trying to send a message to the Aussies.  On their first three possessions they went right into the post to Dwight Howard and let him go right at Australia’s best play, Andrew Bogut.  To which Bogut and Australia had no answer.

Bogut picked up two quick fouls and became quite frustrated.  On the next play down he screened Kobe hard which was soon followed by a nice quick jab from Melo to the Aussies grill piece.  Bogut wasn’t the same after, only shooting 2 of 5 from the field for 4 points and 2 boards.

Team USA was led by none other then NBA MVP Kobe Bryant.  Bryant dropped 25 points 10 of 16 from the field (4-7 from 3).  LeBron and Carmelo added 16 and 15 respectively to add to the Aussie destruction.

Up next for Team USA is the winner of Argentina vs Greece (10:15 AM ET).  Time to go watch Manu and see who will get destroyed by the Redeem Team next.

My Thoughts: GAME. SET. MATCH, world.  You could take the best players on everyone’s Olympic team and put them together and you still wouldn’t beat us.

Team USA Crushes Ze Duestchland

Germany which figured to be one of the tougher challenges for Team USA, proved the complete opposite, falling 106-57 on Monday Morning (ET time or whatever). The Germans who have two NBA-ers in Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman were thought to be able to be a test for Team USA in their last game of pool play. Dirk was nothing of the sort, only going 4-10 from the field and ending with a dismal 14 points.

Team USA was led by C Dwight Howard’s 22 points and 9 boards and also LeBron James aka the King’s 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field.

Up next for the Americans is the Aussie squad. Team USA (5-0) will move on to a quarterfinal matchup Wednesday against Australia, the team that’s provided them with their toughest test in China (87-76 win in an Exhibition). Australia’s team is highlighted by NBA center Andrew Bogut who was out of Australia’s last game against Team USA while resting a sore ankle for pool play.

Personally I dont see any team giving the Americans a true challenge. I think the buzz surrounding the next game against what reporters are calling a formidable opponent in Australia is all hear say. USA will wipe the floor with these Aussies and make it a perfect 6-0 en route to the gold. Just listen to Chris Kaman:

Nobody is going to beat them. No way, it’s just not going to happen.

Tyreke Evans – Next Star or Next Murder Victim?

Tyreke Evans put Philadelphia high school basketball back on the map last night as he won the MVP award of the McDonald’s All-American in Milwaukee.

Evans, a scoring machine who combines a variety of playground moves and unlimited range, truly brought his ‘A’ game as he finished with 21 points and 10 boards.  Evans added his name to select company in winning the John R. Wooden MVP Award. Past winners include Michael Beasley (2007), Kevin Durant and Chase Budinger ( both in 2006), LeBron James (2003), Dwight Howard (2004) and Kevin Garnett (1995).

Tyreke is currently undecided on where he will be attending school in the fall with his top suitors being Memphis, Texas, and Villanova.  Personally if I was this kid, I’d get as far away from this city as possible. Why you ask?  Back in November Tyreke witnessed the shooting death of of 19-year-old Marcus Reason by the hands of his 16 year old cousin, Jamar “Mar Mar” Evans.  Mar Mar now faces one count of first degree murder, and one count of third degree murder.

Here’s the detailed account of the incident:

The fatal shooting occurred at about 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 25 in Chester’s Toby Farms section, according to a police affidavit. Tyreke Evans, Jamar Evans, Rasheen “Ra-Ra” Blackwell and Tyreke’s American Christian teammate, Dwayne Davis, had watched the end of the Chicago-Denver NFL game at Tyreke’s aunt’s home when his mother called his cell to tell him some pies she had baked were ready.

Tyreke Evans, according to the affidavit, got behind the wheel of a gold Ford Expedition with chrome rims and dark-tinted windows. Jamar Evans sat in the front passenger’s seat, and Blackwell and Davis sat in back. They were heading to Tyreke Evans’ mother’s house, when Blackwell and Davis noticed someone with a gun coming from an alley, the affidavit said.

According to Tyreke Evans’ account, Blackwell and Davis began yelling, “Go, he’s about to shoot.”

Tyreke almost drove into a fire hydrant to escape the shooting, family sources said.

“Davis and Blackwell said they saw [Reason] coming out of an alleyway with a handgun and yelled at Tyreke to get moving, because there was going to be shooting,” Delaware County Detective Michael Palmer confirmed.

“They said they heard a gunshot fired. Tyreke said he ducked behind the wheel and hit the gas.

“Tyreke went on to say he heard a second shot fired that was louder, but he didn’t know where the second shot came from, and he didn’t even know Jamar Evans had a gun until he saw him put it in the front pocket of his hoodie jacket. When they got back to his mother’s house, they started getting calls from friends telling them that someone was shot.”

My dad is a high school basketball coach in the area and through his network of coaching associates and friends, he has heard that this kid has to have a bodyguard with him at all times.  Now that the (215), Philadelphia, has become the murder capital of the world, I would get the F outta here if I was this kid.  As far away as possible.

Evans hasnt had any run ins yet since the incident back in November, but rest assured these thugs have not forgotten what happened to their friend.  Tyreke is quickly acquiring lots of national recognition and fame due to his play on the court but if hes not careful, he might be remembered for the bullseye on his back off of it.
