Dear Mr. Lurie

I have put in it a lot of thought, research, stress, and work, but I’ve put this list together for you, I’m HOPING next Friday you can just run down the list and check them off one by one, and I guarantee, Super Bowl XLIV will be money in the bank…

1. Sign RT Vernon Carey (MIA):  He has a real “nasty” streak a la Runyan. PERFECT replacement. Supposedly wants $20 million total, a reasonable amount. O-Line would be: LT Herremans; LG Max Jean or Nick Cole; C JJ; RG Andrews; RT Carey. (Supposedly you are talking with Tra Thomas about returning, though, I would be fine with that too)

2. Sign FB Leonard Weaver (SEA); THE best FB on the market; great blocker, decent runner, better-than-average receiver

3. Sign TE Bo Scaife (TEN): Good receiver, better-than-average blocker.  Combined with Celek, TE would be shored up tremendously.

And then there’s the WR position:

4. Trade for Boldin (1st, 3rd, Justice) OR Ocho Cinco(4th, Reggie Brown)

IF you don’t trade for a receiver, then the draft could then be:

21. Best RB available (Moreno or McCoy)

28. Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina: Reminds people of Boldin; everything I read says he’s the most polished receiver in the draft.  Having him line up on the other side of DeSean Jackson for 10 years??  Could potentially be the best WR combo in the NFL for years with Nicks doing the dirty work underneath and across the middle,

Oh, by the way…the below is confidential; you can’t mention it to anyone until next week, after you read this, we meet and I take over for Tommy Heckert ….shhhh

Thank you,

Your soon-to-be General Manager

Chris

McNabb’s Arizona Home Vandalized

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed a report on Yahoo yesterday that “Go Cards” and similar messages were burned into the front lawn of Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb’s home in Chandler, Ariz., at some point last week.

The report said that McNabb’s wife, Roxie, and his three children were staying at the house, but the source said it was not clear if they were at the home at the time of the incident.

The website’s report said that McNabb took a photo of the damaged lawn and used it as a motivating factor for the NFC title game against the Cardinals.

According to the report, one of the culprits was identified after leaving a box at the scene with his mailing label attached.

B West Resting up for G-Men

Birds running back Brian Westbrook did not practice Wednesday and might be limited for the rest of the week.  Westbrook is nursing a badly b-west1sprained right ankle and swollen left knee, said Wednesday that he probably won’t practice much this week.  Instead he will prepare for the Eagles’ divisional-round playoff game against NFC East rival, the New York Giants with an intensive regimen of weightlifting, stretching and running in a pool.

Westbrook said he will start against the Giants on Sunday, but only after taking a round of anti-inflammatory medication on Saturday night and Sunday morning to get the pain and swelling to a tolerable level.  Look for B West to torch the G-Men as he usually does.

What…..The…… _______________?

The end of an era?  The closing of a chapter in Eagles lore?  Add another one to the, what could’ve been?  Simply embarrassing? All of the above appear to be yes.  In what can only be describe as pathetic, the Eagles TIED the one win Bengals in a joke of an offensive performance, as Donovan McNabb missed on THIRTY OF FIFTY EIGHT PASSES yesterday.

box4

And what is even more embarrassing then the 30 incompletions in one game, even more embarrassing then the fact that McNabb turned the ball over four times (and it easily should’ve been six), what is even more embarrassing then the fact that McNabb didn’t know the game was going to end in a tie at the end of overtime, is the fact that head coach Andy Reid called 58 pass plays, with arguably the best player in football as his RUNNING back, to which he only touched the ball seventeen times, fourteen of them on running plays.

Something needs to change.  Whatever the “philosophy” the Eagles are using is NOT working.  If everyone watching can see it EXCEPT the men in charge, something is wrong. “From watching film, other teams in the league have been successful against them,” said Bengal corner back Jonathan Joseph, “They may have a lot of yards or whatever, but teams have been successful getting them off the field. They have tendencies you can pick up on and you have a good idea of what’s going on….they run those 14-yard curl routes (over and over), they ran them like five times today.”

Eagles Bengals Football

There is no more proof then that my friends that something needs to change.  The player callers, the game planner, the philosophy, something needs to change, because teams know what the Eagles are going to do before the play happens, how can you win when that happens?

Well, at least you can tie?

Times yours……

G Men Run All Over the Eagles

Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes, Brandon Jacobs blasted in two more and the Giants did just enough to beat the Birds 36-31 and positioned themselves for another postseason run.  The Eagles who rank 14th in the NFL in rushing defense at 104 ypg allowed, found themselves getting murdered up front and allowed 219 rushing yards to the division foe G Men.  The consistent ability to run opened up the passing attack for Eli who was able to his find receivers all night.

The Eagles had the ball at their own 45 with 1:55 left, but B West couldnt convert a 3rd and 3 on a sweep to the otuside.  And was then stopped on the following play by Chase Blackburn on fourth-and-1.  Andy Reid has no power run game, and his play calling on 3rd and 3 acknowledges it.  I’m really starting to get sick of tired of some of the moronic things he has been doing lately.

Giants Eagles Football

The Giants (8-1) are now two games ahead of the Redskins and three in front of the Eagles (5-4) and the  Cowboys.  New York is 3-0 against the division, the Eagles, 0-3.

DeAngelo Hall Signs with Redskins

Hall agreed to a one-year deal that is worth $492,000 for the remainder of the season, the prorated portion of his $1 million base salary that he would have received from the Oakland Raiders.redskins_logo_small

Genius’ Al Davis and Tom “the CableGuy” Cable Raiders released Hall on Wednesday, eight games into a seven-year, $72 million contract.

This sucks for the Eagles as it adds another great chip to an already good defense.

LJ Smith Got…. JACKED UP

Eagles tight end L.J. Smith was knocked out of Sunday’s game with Atlanta after being concussed on a late hit from Atlanta’s Lawyer Milloy.

Smith was hit at the end of an incomplete pass down the middle. Donnie’s throw hit a defender in the back of the helmet and Smith turned his head back upfield before taking a lick from Milloy.  I was sitting in the end zone and saw this play right in front of me, and he got jacked the f*ck up and looked to be pretty foggy walking off the field.

Shawn Andrews Out At Least 6 Months

Eagles All-Pro guard Shawn Andrews had surgey on his lower back yesterday will be out at least 6 weeks, with a possibility he’s done for the season.

Andrews had surgery to repair a herniated disc. The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Watkins, who just also happened to operated the same procedure on fellow Eagles offensive lineman Tra Thomas in 2005.

The Eagles had sent Andrews to a number of specialists, trying to locate the cause of the problem. Watkins was the fourth opinion on the injury. Before Andrews visited Watkins early last week, coach Andy Reid said the team had not seen progress in his recovery after minimal improvement shortly after the injury.

Shawn has not played since injuring his back at Dallas in Week 2.  Max-Jean Gilles will remain in the lineup in Andrews’ absence.

Eagles Release Tony Hunt

And the great Tony Hunt fullback experiment ends not in a bang, but a whimper.  The Eagles have released Tony Hunt and signed journeyman linebacker/special teams player Tracy White (who?), reflecting continuing concerns about their special-teams play.

Hunt had four carries for nine yards this season so it isn’t that surprising however I am very shocked at this considering Andy Reid has a history of not going back on his draft picks.  Especially with the increase in time on the field Hunt has seen of late in the blocking game.

Could this be a little bit of foreshadowing down the road?

Is Andy Reid’s tenure as Head Coach in jeopardy?

Eagles Win Ugly

Finally our defense stepped up late in a game and helped the Eags score 23 4th quarter points to take a weird and wild victory from the 49ers in sunny San Francisco yesterday.  Donovan’s players only meeting didn’t seem to stir up much sense of urgency from the get go for the Birds on Sunday and it looked as if Eagle fans were in for another sickening feeling in their stomachs as San Fran scored 10 unanswered right before the half yesterday including a returned blocked field goal.

Being that this game was a must win we somehow someway found a way to pull it out and get the W.  A huge victory for the birds as two NFC East teams lost on Sunday (Dallas and Washington) with New York still yet to take the field until tonight.  For a minute there (well a few) I was really beginning to doubt our chances of making the playoffs this year the way we looked against a BAD San Francisco team.  I’ll give them some credit… well no I won’t, they’re terrible.

Onto the only positives from this game:  Donovan threw for 280 yards and two scores minus his best RB (B West) and his top two WRs (Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown). Oh and David Akers MADE A FIELD GOAL.

Player of the Game: Juqua Parker –  5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT for TD

Fast Facts: McNabb past Ron Jaworski on the Eagles’ career list for yards passing and pass attempts.
