Another Eagle Flies the Coup

Lito Sheppard to the Jets for Picks

According to a source the Eagles on Saturday are expected to complete a trade which will send corner Lito Sheppard to the New York Jets for a package of draft picks. philadelphia-eagles-logo

Although details of the deal were not available, the Eagles are believed to be receiving a middle-round choice in the 2010 draft and conditional 2011 draft choice. The level of the 2011 choice will be determined by a number of factors including Sheppard’s 2009 playing time.

Lito will most likely step right into the starting lineup at the cornerback spot opposite Darrelle Revis.

A Sad Day in the 215

Brian Dawkins Signs with the Broncos

The San Francisco Chronicle cites “a league source” reporting that Brian Dawkins has agreed to a two-year contract with the Broncos.  Philly was considered a near lock to retain Dawkins on a one-year deal, but he’s set to quarterback the Broncos defense in a Rodney Harrison-type role. philadelphia-eagles-logo

Dawkins showed last season that he has plenty left in tank and will help the Broncos defense get back to respectability while in rebuilding mode.

Sad to see you go B Dawk.  You will be missed.

Dawkins to Denver?

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports that Brian Dawkins is on a flight to Denver to visit with the Broncos. Dawkins is worth more to the Eagles thanphiladelphia-eagles-logo anyone else, which has hurt his contract negotiations.

Now he’s showing how serious he is about possibly leaving. Dawkins would play a Rodney Harrison-like leadership role for Josh McDaniels’ Broncos, but a return to Philly still seems most likely.

Housh Wants to Wear Green

Free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh sent a text message to ESPN 950 saying “If they want me I’d be an Eagle tomorrow.” philadelphia-eagles-logo

Houshmandzadeh seems to be still waiting it out to schedule any visits, but he’s the type to take less to play for a winner. He’s also made it clear that he’d love to play with Donovan McNabb. The interest may not be mutual.

Dear Mr. Lurie

I have put in it a lot of thought, research, stress, and work, but I’ve put this list together for you, I’m HOPING next Friday you can just run down the list and check them off one by one, and I guarantee, Super Bowl XLIV will be money in the bank…

1. Sign RT Vernon Carey (MIA):  He has a real “nasty” streak a la Runyan. PERFECT replacement. Supposedly wants $20 million total, a reasonable amount. O-Line would be: LT Herremans; LG Max Jean or Nick Cole; C JJ; RG Andrews; RT Carey. (Supposedly you are talking with Tra Thomas about returning, though, I would be fine with that too)

2. Sign FB Leonard Weaver (SEA); THE best FB on the market; great blocker, decent runner, better-than-average receiver

3. Sign TE Bo Scaife (TEN): Good receiver, better-than-average blocker.  Combined with Celek, TE would be shored up tremendously.

And then there’s the WR position:

4. Trade for Boldin (1st, 3rd, Justice) OR Ocho Cinco(4th, Reggie Brown)

IF you don’t trade for a receiver, then the draft could then be:

21. Best RB available (Moreno or McCoy)

28. Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina: Reminds people of Boldin; everything I read says he’s the most polished receiver in the draft.  Having him line up on the other side of DeSean Jackson for 10 years??  Could potentially be the best WR combo in the NFL for years with Nicks doing the dirty work underneath and across the middle,

Oh, by the way…the below is confidential; you can’t mention it to anyone until next week, after you read this, we meet and I take over for Tommy Heckert ….shhhh

Thank you,

Your soon-to-be General Manager

Chris

Hey guys, she also has a spread in this upcoming February issue of Playboy so be sure to stop by your local smut mart to grab a copy.

This begs the question:

How many Eagles do you think will attend now that the ceremony is at the Mansion? Most likely ALL.

And if it were at some lame-o South Philly joint? Significantly Less then that.

Westbrook Sore but will Start

Brian Westbrook sat out Wednesday’s practice, but he’ll certainly play against the Arizona Cardinals in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.  Expect b-west1him to take the rest of the week off from actual practice and focus more on getting his aching muscles and sore knees ready for gametime come Sunday.   According to #36 himself:

I will start.
