Pacman Ready to Play this Weekend

Adam “Pacman” Jones will be eligible to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers after his six-game suspension, and Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he’ll also use his DB to return punts as well.cogirls

Jones has already returned to practice, but the Cowboys still have a roster exemption and do not yet have to put him on their 53-man roster.

Portis Likely Out This Weekend Against Dallas

Clinton Portis’ sprained knee showed no improvement Thursday, and the Washington Redskins running back appears unlikely to play in Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. redskins_logo_small

The NFL’s second-leading rusher left Redskins Park during practice, walking gingerly in a gray hooded sweatshirt and burgundy sweatpants to his Maserati.

Portis sprained his left knee in the 23-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers before last week’s bye.

With Portis hurt, Ladell Betts appears set to start Sunday. Betts has missed the last three games with a sprained knee, but he was on the field in steady rain for Thursday’s practice.  Shaun Alexander would start if both Portis and Betts are unable to play.

NFC East Round Up

This week featured a huge division game between the New York Giants the Dalals Cowboys.  Dallas again without their QB Tony Romo failed to do muich on the offensice side of the ball.  New York however, didnt have much of a probelm.  They jumpd out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back.

Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, Brandon Jacobs rushed for 117 yards and a score and the Giants defense took advantage of an out of sync Romo-less offense to intercept three passes in a 35-14 victory on Sunday.

PITT @ WASH  MNF

Washington takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight on MNF.  I need the Pittsburgh D to step up big and shut down Santana Moss to hold on to win my fantasy football game.  Come on Steelers.  A Steelers victory would also bode nice for the Birds.

NFC East Wrap Up

NYG 21   PIT 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers, stretched thin by injuries and their own mistakes, repeatedly kept the New York Giants out of their end zone. A game the Steelers were controlling turned dramatically when they couldn’t stay out of that end zone themselves.

Eli Manning threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Boss with 3:11 remaining for the Giants’ only touchdown after they tied it several minutes before on a bizarre safety.  The defending champs are now 6-1 and atop the NFC East.

WASH 25   DET 17

Santana Moss scored twice, including a punt return for 80 yards early in the fourth quarter, scoring what proved to be Washington’s game winning touchdown in a 25-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Redskins are now at 6-2 for the first time since 2000 with the win.

TB 9   DAL 13

In a slow day of offense in Big D the Dallas Cowboys edged out Jeff Garcia and the Bucs to take a 13-9 victory.  Brad Johnson went 19-for-33 for 122 yards with 1 TD and no interceptions filling in for Tony Romo.  Terrell Owens had five catches for 33 yards. He has only 11 catches and 100 receiving yards in his past three games. The Cowboys move to 5-3 with the win.

B West on B West

News out of Washington has surfaced in regards to how little brother Byron Westbrook feels about his brothers injury.  According to talks with his brother, Brian will be out a lot longer then your Philadelphia Eagles are leading on.

In an article from yesterday’s Washington Post, Byron stated, “I don’t think he’ll play.  The ankle injury is more serious than what the Eagles put out. You know how Andy Reid is about injuries and giving out information. Just watching him on the sidelines after he turned his ankle [against Pittsburgh two weeks ago], it didn’t look good.”

Thanks Byron, what have you just told us that the majority of us are not already thinking?  I have to think, we, as true-blooded Eagles fans, are fully aware of that happening considering he hasn’t practiced all week?

Just stick to pretending to be big bro in practice (Byron simulates BWest36 on the Skins practice squad leading up to games against Philadelphia) and don’t set up these headlines acting like your dishing out some inside scoop to get us even more worried about the most important Westbrook …  Brian.

Brian Westbrook is Officially Day to Day

Andy Reid held a press conference Monday and updated the media as to the severity of Brian Westbrook’s injury, or lack thereof.  Westbrook left the Pittsburgh game after he stepped on his own teammate and landed awkwardly on his other ankle.  Although Westbrook limped off the field, it didn’t look too serious.

During the press conference, Big Red stated that there was no ligament or tendon damage.  Reid stated that Westbrook’s status is day-to-day.  The injury is being listed as a sprain and Westbrook hasn’t been ruled out for this Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Personally, I think the Eagles play this one safe and plan for the Chicago Bears without Westbrook in the lineup and let him get back to 100%.  I think we can handle the Bears without him and this will give some key reserves the reps they desperately need.
