NFC East Round Up

With starting running back Brandon Jacobs out with a knee injury, the Giants took to the air to win their sixth in a row.  Manning threw for three touchdowns in his return to the scene of his Super Bowl MVP performance and the New York Giants beat Arizona 37-29 to snap the Cardinals’ seven-game home winning streak.

Manning completed 26 of 33 for 240 yards with no interceptions as the Giants moved to 10-1, tied for the best record in the NFL.

Terrell Owens broke out with seven catches for 213 yards and the Dallas defense played great when it had to, helping the Cowboys beat the San Francisco 49ers 35-22 Sunday.  Tony Romo was 23-of-39 for 341 yards and three touchdowns in his second game playing with a splint protecting a broken pinkie on his passing hand.

Dallas (7-4) has won consecutive games for the first time since starting 3-0. With Seattle coming to Texas Stadium on Thursday, the Cowboys could distance themselves even more from their recent 2-4 rut and could go steaming into December in prime position for a wild-card playoff berth.

Clinton Portis gained 143 yards on 29 carries, including key runs late that helped preserve the Redskins’ first victory in almost a month, 20-17 over the Seattle Seahawks.  It ended a two-game losing streak for Washington (7-4), which hosts the division-leading New York Giants (10-1) on Sunday.

Romo Out For Sunday

Tony Romo had said he wanted to play last Sunday against the Rams but the pinkie apparently wasn’t ready. It appears it won’t allow him to play for at least another week as well.

Romo appeared on TOs radio show and acknowledged the fact that he will indeed be out for this weeks contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Roy Williams and Roy Williams Teammates?

More news from Cowboy country.  The Dallas Cowboys are busy today and apparently discussing with the Detroit Lions a trade for wide receiver Roy Williams.

The biggest douchebag owner in all of sports, Jerry Jones, believes Williams can provide an immediate boost to a faltering offense without quarterback Tony Romo and views him as a potential long-term solution as the eventual replacement for aging Terrell Owens.

The source said the Cowboys are willing to make the deal, but the Lions seem hesitant because they are operating without a GM since the long awaited firing of Matt Millen.  The Lions have been demanding a 1st rd draft choice just to consider a deal, and it is not known if Jones is willing to make the trade at that compensation level. The Cowboys could offer a 2nd and 3rd round pick, since they have multiple choices in the 3rd round.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said one GM stated that there was a strong possibility the Lions would trade Williams to the Cowboys or Eagles on Tuesday, however Philadelphia is believed to be more interested in Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez as previously mentioned here.

The Eagles once again have Lito and two 1st  round picks to dangle out there.  MAKE A MOVE BIRDS.

My Thoughts on Eagles Cowboys Game

First of all, that could have possibly been the most entertaining professional football game I have ever seen.  The first half was incredible, back and forth, score for score, up and down the field, no holds barred, offensive showdown.  It was truly incredible.

Now I have Terrell Owens in my fantasy league and he single handedly won this weeks match for me, which I had already conceded in my mind, hoping for an Eagles victory and some stellar defense on TO.  But a 72 yard TD catch later and I had a fantasy win and my head in my hands.

Sean Considine – What on Earth are you doing out there?

Big Red – Why on Earth do you have Sean Considine in the game?  Why are you running a zone prevent in the first quarter?  Why are you not blitzing Tony Romo?

Anyway after that Brian Westbrook came back and showed Dallas what a real running back is.  B West shook everyone out there shoes and cruised down the field on a screen here, a draw there, and a little screen to the outside to score.  Oh and what the fuck is up with these NFL referees this year?  How many facemask penalties were missed last night?  I counted at least 3, possibly 4.  Basically the only way the Cowboys can tackle #36 is by illegally grabbing the shit out of his grill piece.

And then the Donovan McNabb fumble.  What the hell was that Donnie?  You faked out your own running back and then tried shoving it into his hands and ended up slamming it into his side as B West is already getting hit by the Dallas D.  Come on man, your smarter then that.  And why dont you throw the ball away when your outside of the pocket and about to get sacked.  Instead you take a 7 or 8 yard loss which eventually led to the following situation.

Andy Reid down 4, needs to score a touchdown, 4th and 12 and he throws the ole hook and ladder short of the first down hopping to catch the Dallas D sleeping.  Not quite Andy.  Piss poor play call at the end.  It makes me pretty nervous knowing that Andy Reid has to rely on trick plays to stay in a close game at the end.  Blows my mind.

All in all, a positive effort from the Eagles minus the a-fore-mentioned.  We proved we are top dawgs in the NFL alongside Dallas and our offense is back with a healthy Donovan and we look pretty damn unstoppable.  I cannot wait to see what happens when we get Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown back.  Oh and DeSean Jackson, your the man, but SCORE THE fucking TOUCHDOWN before you start to celebrate.  Jesus Christ man.

Eagles Cowboys Prediction

Written by Guest Writer, Chris Rak.

Final Score : Eagles  33   CowGirls  14

The Scoring Summary Please:

  • Demps 98 yard KO Return to start the game.  7-0 Eags out to an early lead.
  • Owens pours popcorn in his eyes after his only TD (cause I need him to score just one for me to win fantasy this week) and blinds himself with the butter out for the game, 7-7.
  • DeSean Jackson, 43 yard TD catch burning Pacman Jones.  14-7 Birds.
  • Then Jessica Simpson tries to distract the Eagles Defense by flashing her tatters on the big board, however she only distracts Romo who’s never ACTUALLY seen her naked.  Pacman instantly starts making it rain throwing hundred dollar bills in the air towards the big screen she’s on from the sidelines distracting TO who can’t believe Pacman is back to the same old shit.   Lito picks off the pass and heads towards the endzone.  While returning for a touchdown he picks up each and every one of those hundo’s Pacman is raining cause we all know he thinks hes underpaid.   21-7 Eagles.
  • Before the half Donnie runs for a 34 yard scramble and scores a touchdown.

HALFTIME: Eagles  28   CowGirls  7

  • Opening kick off of the second half Pacman tries to make up for first half blunders and returns the kickoff to the 10.
  • Next play Dawkins blitzes.  Picks up Romo completely off the ground throws him 7 yards back into the end zone safety.  30-7 Eagles.
  • Then, Lito showing he’s not joking about paying him, lets Felix Jones (also on my fantasy squad so if he or TO score I win, yes I don’t know how I have too many cowboys, trust me, I’ve tried trading them) run right past him without even budging, just staring at Joe Banner.  30-14.
  • 0:37 left in the game B West breaks a 44 yarder then just falls down at the 1 yard line (we’ve all seen it before), but this time Lito calls a timeout with 1 second left to spite the Birds.  Its ok, pad the stats, David Akers bangs the field goal.

GAME SET MATCH:  Eagles  33   CowGirls  14

Well Chris, now that would be awesome and quite possibly the single most entertaining football game of all time, but I see otherwise.  I still see a very entertaining game, minus all the hoopla and shenanigans.  I see Donovan McNabb being on point, a healthy Brian Westbrook making defenders miss, and a solid effort by our revamped Defensive unit, giving the Eagles a winner in a thriller, 31 – 24.

Keep on Rainin’

Last week one Adam Jones met with commissioner Roger Goodell about his possible re-instatement back into the NFL.   Jones left optimistic he will finally be able to join his teammates as the newest member of the Dallas Cowboys.

This makes you wonder just what oh what Pacman and Roger would discuss? Seriously, what would that conversation sound like?  Funny things.  Pacman has not played a down in the NFL in past 16+ months and was acquired in a trade by the Dallas Cowboys.  Pacman is suspended for multiple run-ins with the law, most notably his issues with shootings at strip clubs in multiple cities around the county.

In quite a stroke of irony, Pacman will now call home in one of the most notorious strip club cities in the United States.  With over 50 strip clubs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area including Exotic Magazine‘s two time nude club of the year “Clubhouse“.

Once Pacman is officially reinstated by Commissioner Goodell he will report to the Cowboys training facility in Valley Ranch, Texas on a daily basis.  After some research a list of the best 8 – 10 strip clubs within driving distance will be mailed to him, including turn by turn mapquest directions from the practice facility, helping Pacman easily find those strip clubs he loves oh so much…quickly.

Early indications have shown the possibly that perhaps this is a new Pacman.  After a recent party at ex-Cowboy Deion Sanders house, new teammate Terrell Owens said. “We went inside and were playing around on the basketball court, and I asked him if he was ready to play. He said, ‘Yeah, but we’re not going to no strip clubs this year either.’

So they’re already on his mind.  And hopefully this helpful message from seemingly nowhere will be in Pacman’s fan mail one day after practice, and we’ll believe Pacman’s proclamation when we see i

Green Thoughts

The Eagles jumped right in on Friday’s free agency when they signed the biggest name on the first day. Asante Samuel is a great CB who can press, play off coverage, blitz, and most of all make big plays. Samuel’s biggest strengths are being able to drop back and get in and out of his breaks while keeping an eye on the quarterback. This allows him to make big jumps on passes and create turnovers. He also is a very smart cornerback. He reads routes well and understands offensive concepts so he can see one route develop and know the complimentary route that goes along with it.  To sum it up Asante is smart and aggressive which should bode well in Double J’s style of defense.

Chris Clemons’ signing was made out to be a bigger deal then it really is.  Clemons is way too small to be an every down DE. At 245 lbs he will see time on 3rd and long and other obvious passing situations. In my opinion he may see about 10 snaps a game. In those 10 snaps this high motor DE can create serious havoc with Trent Cole and maybe another DE (Howard, Abiamiri, etc) moving to DT on those plays. This guy is a role player, which we all know have importance, but he is not the answer to finding a DE that can play with Cole.

So what now? Did the storm pass? Let me throw a couple of “indicators” that tells me they have something else up their sleeves. I don’t think anyone can argue that Big Red seems to think he has his shit together and borderlines arrogant in the way he continually does the same thing, thinking it will work now when it has fallen short in the past. I think when you understand that, along with listening to Jeff Lurie during the Samuel press conference talk about how he does not want to be the type of owner who steers clear of certain positions when mistakes have been made with those positions in the past (aka WR and T.O. or drafting a DE high in round 1, Jerome McDougle).

24454.jpg

So the question remains, is there a second part to signing Samuel. I am not part of the small group who thinks that Lito can/will play with Samuel. First of all, Lito wants more loot and playing with someone making a boatload more just will not work. Second of all, Sheldon COULD play FS, but I don’t think he is best suited for FS and he is not big enough to play SS. So Lito has to go, sell high, and understand he is undersized and injury prone. We simply cannot have him missing 4-6 games a year.

I am going to throw out the bottom 9 teams in pass defense and see if they have a player who might match Lito’s skill and could be a potential match.

1. Vikings – With the worst pass defense giving up 264 passing yards per game. Childress and Reid remain in open dialogue and I am sure the Vikings would like Lito, but for what price? I don’t think the Vikings would give up the #17 pick for Lito and I don’t think they have anything else we want.

2. Lions – Yes, they are hurting for a CB and their pass defense has been bad for YEARS. Roy Williams is someone every Eagles fan would love on this roster. Would you do Lito and our 2nd or 3rd for Roy Williams? I would certainly consider it heavily.

3. Saints – They just signed Randall Gay so in their minds they are probably set now. I would trade Lito for Colston, but I’m not so sure Saints would be down.

4. Bills – How about Lito for Lee Evans? Maybe the Bills sign Bryant Johnson and trade Evans before he is an UFA next year. We would need to work out an extension first, but this works well for both teams.

5. Cardinals – Whatever it takes for Larry Fitzgerald. I repeat, WHATEVER it TAKES! Boldin is a perfect fit for our offense so if Larry is not available, is Quan?

6. Bears – They have no talent (Period).

7. Bengals – Ocho Cinco for Lito in a package deal. You want a deep threat, he is one of the best.

8. Texans – I would love Andre Johnson, but they would need to be unbelievably stupid to want to trade ‘Dre.  So maybe, it is Houston, and they did just resign Andre Davis.

9. Falcons – Roddy White was pretty impressive last year with no real QB. Raise your hand if you are an Eagles fan and Roddy White is the #1 WR you were looking for.

Free Agents :

Randy MossResigned with the Pats – 3 yr, $27 million. Apparently Samuel told Banner and Big Red how great of a teammate Randy is and how much he has matured. This would be right in line with Kearse/TO in 2004. Biggest defensive FA on day one, followed by the top WR available.

Bryant Johnson – He was the Cardinal’s #3, so he could be signed to be our #1….that seems about right.

Draft:

Six of the top seven teams need help at CB. I could see the Eagles packaging up Lito and their #1 to make a big jump on draft day for their future LT or a stud DE. Chris Long, Jake Long, Vernon Gholston, Ryan Clady could all be targets to make a big move on draft day. Chris Long and Jake Long are flat out studs. Gholston is a freak athletically and played very well at OSU. Clady could be a reach, but OT talent always seems to go early.

What will the Eagles do next?

      1) Bring in a WR
      2) Package Lito
      3) Another FA pickup
      4) Add via the Draft
      5) Stand Pat

T Owes

According to Bob Brookover at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Terrell Owens owes the Eagles about three quarters of million dollars.

fb_aahm172_8x10.jpg

A league source said today that an arbitrator ruled in the Eagles’ favor Friday on a grievance that was filed by the NFL players’ union on Owens’ behalf more than two years ago. The union had disputed the Eagles’ move to recover $1.725 million of the $2.3 million signing bonus the team paid the wide receiver when it signed him to a seven-year, $49 million deal in 2004.

The entire saga dates from 2005, when a disgruntled Owens was suspended seven games into the season by coach Andy Reid for “behavior that was disruptive to the team.” The Eagles suspended Owens for four games without pay, which cost him $764,704, and later informed him that he should not return for the final five games.

Chalk one up for city of Brotherly Love.
